Quite obvious huh?! Yeah I'm back after a lovely vacation at home, in India. Where I live right now, is home. India, to me, is somewhere I need to go to be with family. Power-cuts, roads dug up with mounds of dirt lined along, tailors that argue, delays due to traffic, construction site dwellers crawling into half the road space, water clogged streets after a spell of rain, vehicles parked on either side of a single lane road, road signs that assume you know better - none of these bother me. They simply exist as I go about my stuff and move on. I did observe however, that this time, I had no temptation for street food. Even restaurant food for that matter. Concern for hygiene reined above desires of the palate.
During my shopping spree, I did observe that Bata - the brand I grew up wearing on my feet for many years didn't really live up to the image of quality I had of it.
The other let down was Thumbs Up - the only soda I'll ever break my no-sodas-ever rule for; being tampered with. It tasted weirdly sweet once, but another time, it had all of its original spunky Taste-The-Thunder punch from the very first sip to the last gulp. Burp! So Satisfying.

Difficult to readjust with the vagaries of living in India ! Yes Bata is really a let down these days - poor quality & high pricing. But I still continue to be a die hard Bata fan ! Really do not know why Old habits die hard I suppose :)
ReplyDeleteBrand Loyalty Ram, that's what it is. I'm guilty of it too!
ReplyDeleteIt's just those rose-tinted glasses all over again! :D
ReplyDeleteThough I haven't given up on street food yet! And, it never disappoints!
Glad you still enjoy street food :)
